Support a Girl-Child

Support our campaign

At FEHD FOUNDATION, our mission is to provide unwavering support for the socio-economic development of women, girls, and children in rural and underserved communities.

We do this through evidence-based programs and interventions that amplify voices, expand access to education and welfare services, and promote behavioral and attitudinal change.

We combine education, advocacy, and capacity building to strengthen communities from within. Our initiatives foster inclusive growth by creating safe spaces for learning, improving maternal and child health, advancing women’s rights, and promoting gender equality.

In collaboration with government agencies, civil society, and local partners, we design and implement impactful programs that respond to the evolving needs of communities. From skill acquisition to social norm change campaigns, we focus on both immediate relief and long-term empowerment.

How far we have gone

Our History

Friendly Environment and Human Development Foundation (FEHD Foundation) is a women-led non-profit organization founded by 10 indigenous people from the Igbo tribe located in South Eastern Nigeria. The founders comprise of 10 individuals who were concerned about the state of affairs in their community deplorable states of schools, poor environmental condition, the harmful traditional practices that left many female babies dead within days of their birth, the increasing number of their community members living below poverty line and how that doubles the domestic burden for women and girls. They committed to improving the quality of life of rural dwellers through the development of human potentials, provision of access to self-reliance and service delivery. Thus, on January 9th 1999, the organization was established as a catalyst for positive change in the live of rural dwellers, with focus on women and girls. In that year, the FEHD Foundation was registered at local and national levels, 150 other indigenous people were inspired to join as volunteers and the first assembly was held in June 1999 where a 7-member board of trustees was nominated, members volunteered to assume roles based on their expertise, experience and passion.
